I have completed my research on the treatment subject for my experiment, lumbriculus variegatus. My lab group has chosen creatine (C4H9N3O2) as our substance to test on the annelid. Our hypothesis is that a proper solution of creatine will increase the worm's pulsation rate. In order to prove this we have to come with a proper ratio of miligrams(mg) to mililiters(mL) so to not overdose the worm and kill it, or underdose the worm and the solution have little or no effect on its pulsation rate. Here is some of the websites that we have conducted research on so far:

Initial Research On Lumbriculus Variegatus
In the Biology class that I'm taking for the summer we are conducting an experiment on lumbriculus variegatus or, as it is more commonly known, the california blackworm. We choose a specific substance, such as a drug, and introduce the annelid (worm) into a small dose (roughly 1ml) of the solution. My lab group has choosen creatine as our substance. We have made a hypothesis, and will test it by measuring the effect that it has on the annelid's pulsation rate. Here is some of my initial research on the subject:

After the First Week
I'm a week and half into the HCOP program and classes started a week ago. So far most everything is just a basic review. At this point I'm kind of bored with the exception of this blog, which has been keeping me busy. I would say that the writing class (which is the one requiring me write this blog) is the only one that I have not reviewed in, and that is really teaching me anything that I have not already known. For example, one of the reasons that I am learning how to write a blog is so that future employers can look up information about me for their evaluation. The same may be said about medical school. I could send them the address for a blog to further evaluate me in hopes that they may like what they see. Then they can decide whether or not I am the material they are looking for in one of their future medical school graduates.
